Support Resolution  - Young People Pathways

Support Resolution is a Merseyside based family-owned company, established by a local family, to support local young individuals. A Young People support provider for individuals (16 -25 age range) that may have a Learning Disability and or Autism, a physical disability, and young people that may have suffered a childhood trauma.

Andy Kershaw – Director

Andy utilises a full and successful 22-year HM Armed Forces career, with professional development in Leadership and Management and Coaching and Mentoring, that enabled promotions, honours and awards - With what might be considered as “Expert by Experience” parental responsibilities for an Autistic Young Person with Severe Learning Disabilities, that presents with Behaviour that Challenges.

Andy has held senior appointments within the armed forces, including Head of a Multi-National Disciplinary Care Team for soldiers injured in Afghanistan, and Director of Operations worldwide and UK, notably London 2012 Olympics.

Awarded the highest Royal Engineer Commendation by the Chief Royal Engineer – “Exceptional service to Injured soldiers and families”.

For six years Andy was a military instructor, coaching and mentoring young people through their transition from civilian to military life. Nurturing and empowering the young people through the toughest period of their life, that saw them mentally and physically tested.

Andy is a plausible leader and senior manager in care, progressing through Support Worker, Senior, Team Leader, Deputy Manager, Care Quality Commission Registered Manager and Operations Manager roles. Managing Residential homes for (16-25 age range) Autistic people that may have Learning Disabilities and may present with Behaviour that Challenges. 

Also registered and commissioned a local (Wirral) residential home for Young People (16-25 age range) with Attachment and Personality Disorders, that may have historic Abuse and Trauma. 

Experienced in the planning, commissioning and managing of residential services, and the turnaround of failing Supported Living, Domiciliary and Residential services.

Andy has also led a large diverse clinal team, comprising of Clinical Psychologists and assistants, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Speech and Language Therapists.  Managing a 29-bed rehabilitation centre for individuals with Acquired Brain Injuries.

Andy has vast experience and qualifications in positive approaches to behaviour that challenges, emotional behavioural disorder, therapeutic approaches, and coaching and mentoring of young people. A Foundations for Safer Care Physical Intervention (BILD accredited) Instructor, and qualified Management of Actual or Potential Aggression (MAPA) and Team Teach practitioner. Andy has held appointment as Senior Safeguarding and Allegation management lead.

NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young Peoples Services – Adults Management (England), & NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care and Children and Young Peoples Services – Adults Management (England)

Therapeutic Child Care Degree (2nd year at Wrexham Glyndwr University)

Nicky Kershaw – Director

An award-winning professional with 15 years’ experience in Health and Social Care, Nicky has an outstanding reputation across the Wirral and Liverpool Region.

After a successful career in the hospitality sector working as a Team Leader and Manager, Nicky decided that she would like to utilise her interpersonal skills and caring nature to support others. 

This was immediately evident when she won Home Instead “2012 CARE Giver of the Year" In recognition of her commitment, passion and dedication to making a real difference in the lives of others. 

A huge achievement that it was only after 11 months in the Company, that Nicky was nominated for the award against approximately 6500 Care givers eligible, in a Nation-Wide event, that she was handed first prize.

Nicky has worked as a personal assistant and Team Leader supporting individuals with a diagnosis such as Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, Motor Neurone Disease, and worked in Palliative Care.

Nicky has a passion to empower young people, promotes being compassionate, considerate and kind. Being respectful of the individual’s right to privacy, dignity and security and respecting their feelings. 

She also promotes rights, choices and wishes by ensuring that everyone is communicating effectively, making sure team members actively listen and respond. Nicky champions working with individuals at their pace whilst providing clear explanations.
